CLI overview
Run the Hako CLI from npm to discover and inspect tools for free, or start its local MCP server.
Run it
npx -y usehako --versionIt needs Node.js 20 or later. npm install -g usehako installs the hako command, so hako <command> works too; the examples below use npx -y usehako.
Commands
| Command | Cost | What it does |
|---|---|---|
discover "<what you need>" [--limit N] | free | Rank tools for a job |
inspect <provider/endpoint> | free | A tool's description, input schema, output schema, price, example and paid URL |
catalog | free | Every tool as JSON |
mcp | free | A local MCP server over stdio with hako_discover and hako_inspect |
version, --version | free | Print the CLI version |
Any other command, or none, prints the help.
The CLI holds no key and pays for nothing. A run is paid from your PayBox wallet with PayBox's use_service on the paidUrl that inspect prints (Pricing and payments). hako login and paid runs from the CLI with your PayBox wallet are being built.
Environment

Output and exit codes
Every command prints JSON to stdout, formatted with two-space indentation, so it pipes into jq. Errors go to stderr as hako: <message> with exit code 1.
Request timeout
Each HTTP request times out after 20 seconds.
